QuickTime and related multimedia services assist your application in combining multiple forms of communication, such as text, pictures, video, sounds, and music. Carbon supports the majority of multimedia APIs in use by developers. Carbon, however, does not support QuickDraw 3D; instead Apple is concentrating on providing support for the OpenGL standard.
