getsslpassphrase(8) BSD System Manager's Manual getsslpassphrase(8)

NAME
     getsslpassphrase

SYNOPSIS
     getsslpassphrase vhost:port algorithm

DESCRIPTION
Used by Apache to extract pass phrases for certificates for SSL-enabled virtual hosts. See the docu-mentation documentation
mentation of Apache's SSLPassPhraseDialog directive for detail. The port and algorithm arguments are
required, as they are part of the SSLPassPhraseDialog protocol, but are ignored.

The Server Admin Certificates panel manages certificate pass phrases in the system keychain. The
getsslpassphrase tool attempts to extract the pass phrase for the specified virtual host from the sys-tem system
tem keychain. If it is not found there, the tool tries to find a pass phrase that may have been cre-ated created
ated with Panther Server, by checking servermgr_web_httpd_config.plist.

For certificate pass phrases in the system keychain, the tool will first try a specific match, and then
look for wild card certificates. Wild card certificates of the following form are supported:
      *.example.com, *.*.example.com, *.*.*.example.com, *.*.sub1.exampl.com, and *.sub2.sub1.example.com.

FILES
     /var/log/getsslpassphrase.log
