Menu Bar Clock and NVRAM

Q: Will resetting parameter RAM (a.k.a.NVRAM) cause a Macintosh computer to reset the Date & Time Preferences? I use the keyboard sequence "command-option-p-r" when I start a Macintosh.

A: No, the Date and Time functionality is contained in the PMU, Power Management Unit hardware, which is located on the motherboard. The keyboard sequence, command-option-p-r resets NVRAM, non volatile random access memory. NVRAM contains Open Firmware configuration variables and other non clock data.
