Creating install packages from the command line

Q: How can I create install packages from the command line now that /usr/bin/package is removed?

A: As of Mac OS 10.3 (Panther), /usr/bin/package was replaced by packagemaker, the command line equivalent of the PackageMaker application. To learn to use packagemaker from the command line, type

/Developer/Applications/Utilities/PackageMaker.app/Contents/MacOS/PackageMaker -help

and see the packagemaker manpage for more information on this tool.

For a detailed explanation of package creation, format, modification and use, see "Software Delivery Guide" in the ADC Reference Library at Guides > Tools > Files & Software Installation.
