Printer Drivers and KanjiTalk 7.5

Q: We are developing a printer driver for the Personal LaserWriter 300 using a serial/CTB driver and KanjiTalk 7.5 on a Power Macintosh 8100/80. What control codes do I need to know about to develop a driver?

A: The LaserWriter 300 series printer is a QuickDraw-based device, and the control codes for it are proprietary to Apple Computer. We do not recommend that third parties develop their own drivers based on this device. Similarly, since the communications toolbox is being phased out in favor of Open Transport, we do not recommend basing any printer-driver development on this technology.
