Grayscale Printing on a LaserWriter LS

Q: We are experiencing a problem printing from one of our applications to an Apple Personal LaserWriter LS. The program requires grayscale printing and it is our understanding that the LS supports 64 levels of gray. However, our customer can find no option to change from B&W printing to Color/Grayscale.

A: To print grayscale, you need to use the Personal LaserWriter 300 driver, Chooser v 7.3, and Personal LaserWriter LS Prep. These items are on the Personal LaserWriter 300 installer disk and the GrayShare Update disk. This is available from 1-800-SOS-APPLE.
