AppleScript Support
With QuickTime 4.1, you can use AppleScript to automate movie playback, conversion, and editing using QuickTime Player. This introduces a number of new capabilities. For example, using simple AppleScript commands you can
-
open a movie and tell it to play for a specific duration
-
automate the conversion of movies from one format to another
-
batch process movie export (automate hinting of movies for streaming, for example)
-
play a movie from a URL
-
script playback of movies with control over size, rate, volume, balance, and looping.
-
automate annotation of movies
-
inventory movie contents (number of tracks, files used, annotations)
-
adjust track playback properties such as start time, volume, and layer
