Q: What are snag keys in Open Firmware?

A: Snag key are used to redirect the boot sequence to the location where the system file may reside. Some of these snag keys were introduced with the iMac. When the computer is started, simply depress these individual keys.

C
Attempt to force boot using the devalias cd from the first bootable partition found. If no bootable partition is found, go to blinking-folder.

D
Attempt to force boot using the devalias hd from the first bootable partition found. If no bootable partition is found, go to blinking-folder.

N
Attempt to force boot using BOOTP and TFTP on the devalias enet.

Z
Attempt to force boot using the devalias zip from the first bootable partition found. If no bootable partition is found, go to blinking-folder.

COMMAND-OPTION-SHIFT-DELETE
Attempt to force boot from any device other than from the device specified by the configuration variable boot-device. That is, do not use the chosen device.
