External Features

The iMac computer is housed in a polycarbonate plastic enclosure that includes the display. The separate keyboard and mouse are also designed in polycarbonate plastic.

The top of the enclosure includes a built-in handle for carrying the computer. The handle can also be used to secure the computer using a cable and lock.

The bottom of the enclosure has a flip-out foot that can be used to change the tilt angle of the front of the computer from about 11 degrees to about 17 degrees.

The front of the enclosure is dominated by the 15-inch display. The front also includes, below the display, the following features:

The receptacle for the power cord is located on the back. The connector for an external video monitor is located on the underside of the back.

The right side of the enclosure, as viewed from the front, contains the I/O panel. The I/O panel contains the following features:

The back portion of the bottom of the enclosure has a hinged plastic door that can be opened for access to the expansion RAM and the AirPort Card slot. For more information, see "RAM Expansion Slots".
