Transmitting Addresses

In PCI-based Power Macintosh computers, addresses never require byte swapping. They are written and read as whole quantities and are passed directly across PCI bridges without byte swapping. However, some transformations may be required when transporting addresses across a bridge--for example, to encode byte lanes and transfer sizes. Addresses may also be altered by logical operations, as described in Address Swizzling.
