Important: Sound Input Manager is deprecated as of Mac OS X v10.5. For new audio development in Mac OS X, use Core Audio. See the Audio page in the ADC Reference Library.

Using the Sound Input Manager

You can use the Sound Input Manager to record sounds with the sound recording dialog box, to record sounds directly from a device, to get and set information about a sound input device, and to register your sound input device driver so that it can respond to Read, Status, and Control calls. This section does not explain how to record sounds using the sound recording dialog box; for information on that, see the chapter "Introduction to Sound on the Macintosh" in this book.
