QuickTime enables Internet multimedia through scriptable browser plug-ins, ActiveX controls, and an Internet-capable player application for the Mac OS and Windows, with an API for creating new Internet multimedia applications. It supports HTTP and FTP delivery from any web server or webpage and RTSP/RTP streaming delivery from streaming servers on all major operating systems. It supports Internet delivery of images, sound, text, Flash, VR, interactivity, and more to the Mac OS, Windows, and many hand-held devices, including mobile phones.
