Leopard Guides: Storage
File Management
An Xsan storage area network (SAN) combines Xserve RAID arrays and slices into large, expandable volumes of storage shared over a high-speed Fibre Channel fabric. Administrators can use Xsan to provide users with very fast access to files. Administrators can also expand storage capacity as needed without interrupting users, who see shared SAN storage as local volumes. Developers can use Xsan, Carbon, Cocoa, and other programming interfaces to provide application access to stored files. |
