The iMac computer has an internal slot-loading CD-RW drive. The drive is capable of writing CD-R media at 8x speed and CD-RW media at 4x speed. It can read CD-ROM media at 24x speed.
Digital audio signals from the CD-RW drive can be played through the sound outputs under the control of the Sound Manager.
The CD-RW drive is an ATAPI drive and is device-select jumpered as Device 1 (slave) in an ATA Device 0/1 configuration.
WARNINGOnly 8 cm or 12 cm circular discs work in the slot loading CD-ROM drive. Inserting an unusually sized or shaped disc may damage the drive.
