Video Display

The built-in video display uses a 15-inch CRT (13.8-inch viewable diagonal). The CRT uses shadow-mask technology and has a dot pitch of 0.28 mm. The display has a fixed horizontal scan rate (60.015 kHz) and supports three resolutions. Table 3-4 lists the resolutions and the vertical scan rates supported.

The display has a mode called Theater Mode that increases the display contrast and brightness when playing video material. Theater Mode applies to full-screen video material and to video displayed in a window by QuickTime Player. Theater Mode is an option in the Monitors control panel and is active only when an application requests it.

The display supports pixel depths up to 32 bits (millions of colors) at all resolutions.
